Now that charges are dropped, an Illinois mother is suing for emotional distress

Chicago, Illinois – Just last week Carlishia Hood and her son were charged with the murder of Jeremy Brown. Hood was held on a $3 million bond and was facing charges of first-degree murder and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A video later surfaced showing that Hood was attacked first by Brown before her son stepped forward to help defend her by shooting him.

The Cook County Prosecutor’s office has dismissed charges against Hood and her son. Hood is now pursuing legal matters of her own by suing five police officers that were involved in her arrest and the city of Chicago for alleging false arrest, malicious prosecution, and emotional distress. Hood shared her experiences with the Associated Press: “What happened to me was totally unnecessary. Never in a million years would I have imagined being brutally attacked, beaten, and being arrested.”
